Tharindu wins Victoria Golf Resort Monthly Medal

Former Anandian and senior planter, Tharindu Wickremasinghe stamped his class when he accounted for the overall title at the Victoria Golf Resort (VGR) Monthly Medal for April at their club course in Rajawella.
Long-range hitting Tharindu showed his high-level of skill converged on the lush greens, showing his power in a day filled with intense competition.
Tharindu’s top performance earned him the coveted title of Overall Winner, demonstrating his mastery of the course and his ability to rise above the competition. 
His precision and form were on full display, with his triumph serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work that he has put in the green, with long hours of training, paid dividends. He scored 71 points.
Among the top-class performances Tharindu, Ganeshan Sriharan and Harsha Abeywickrema emerged victorious in their respective segments while etching their names into the annals of VGR’s history.
In the Nett category, Sriharan emerged as the undisputed champion, showing impeccable skill and strategy throughout the tournament. His consistent performance and unwavering focus propelled him to the top of the leaderboard, taking his status as a force to be reckoned with on the golf course. He scored 72 points.
Meanwhile, in the Gross segment, Abeywickrema emerged triumphant, delivering a commanding performance that left his competitors in awe. 
Abeywickrema’s ability to navigate the challenges of the course with precision and poise earned him a well-deserved victory, underscoring his status as one of VGR’s elite golfers. He scored 83 points.
The Ladies’ division also witnessed fierce competition, with Veronica Pagliuca emerging as the winner in the Gross category and Malenie Bond clinching the top spot in the Nett category. Their exemplary performances showcased the growing talent and diversity within the sport, inspiring aspiring female golfers to pursue their passion for the game. She scored 77 points.
In addition to the winners, runner-up Nadesan Krishnakumar and Derrick Ponnambalam in the overall Gross segment and Roshini Sangani and Jade Jiggens in the Ladies’ Gross and Nett segments respectively, demonstrated exceptional skill and sportsmanship throughout the tournament, pushing the boundaries of their abilities and adding to the excitement of the event.
The Longest Drive Men’s was won by the former Trinitian golfer, Asiri Ariyarathna while Bond won the title for the Ladies’.
