Thamindu, Nikil shine on day one

Thamindu Pradeeptha and Nikil Jayaweera shone for Richmond College against Royal College on day one of the Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter played at Kadirana.
Pradeeptha made a knock of 103 runs that included 12 boundaries and three sixes while Jayaweera hit 63 with ten boundaries and shared an opening wicket stand of 90 runs for Richmond, taking first lease of the wicket, to make a formidable score of 299 runs. Royal in their turn ended the day on 24 for no loss.


Meanwhile right arm pacies Nathan Caldera and Yatindra Siriwardena shared ten wickets between them to wreck Trinity’s batting to bundle them out for a meager 64 runs.
S. Thomas in their turn helped by an unbeaten 61 by Thisen Eheliyagoda ended the day in a strong position of 173 for 7.


St. Anthony’s Katugastota along with Lumbini MV, Mahanama Colombo and DSS was in a strong position against Nalanda, St. Joseph Vaz Wennappuwa and St. Anne’s Kurunegala at the end of the first day’s play. The matches will be continued today.
