Netball Federation of Sri Lanka Vice President Tamara Paragoda Liyanage has decided to resign from her position with immediate effect.
Liyanage, a former Headquarters Sports Officer attached to the Ministry of Sports, is reported to have stepped down in protest against certain decisions taken by the current administration of the Netball Federation of Sri Lanka (NFSL).
Her resignation letter has already been handed over to the NFSL President. However, she confirmed that she will continue to serve as President of the Galle District Netball Association.
Sources further revealed that several members of the NFSL Executive Committee are also disappointed with the functioning of the current administration.
With her resignation, the number of NFSL Vice Presidents has been reduced from three to two. A suitable replacement is expected to be appointed in the near future.
Meanwhile, Liyanage stated that she could not agree with certain decisions related to constitutional amendments and financial matters within the federation.
The remaining Vice Presidents of the NFSL are Kumarihami Tennakoon of Kandy and the Sri Lanka Schools Netball President only.
