Sri Lankan juniors leap into second round

Four Sri Lankan juniors Chirath Subasinghe, Yonal Dankumbura, Nilesh Mithun and Enuka de Silva advanced to the second round of the Boys U14 singles event of the ATF Under-14 Week 2 tennis tournament by recording wins in their first round matches played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo.  

Chirath and Yonal came out victorious against Titus Murto of Finland and Jaffrin Gnanados of India by the identical winning margins of two sets to nil while Nilesh and Enuka came out on top against two other Sri Lankan players.

Tong Lawrie of Hong Kong and Akhil Aryan Perera of France too won their matches while Sri Lanka’s Mansaku Jayakody bowed out of contention with his defeat to Akhil Aryan.

The tournament will be continued today.
