Sri Lanka’s boys and girls teams are set to compete in the Asia Rugby U-20 Sevens kicking off their campaigns today in Bihar, India.
The boys’ team captained by dynamic playmaker, Shaahid Zumri begins its Pool B challenge against Hong Kong at 8.45 am. Later in the day, they face hosts India at 12.30 pm and wrap up the group stage against UAE at 3.25 pm. Sri Lanka is seen as strong contenders to reach the Cup semifinal stages provided they play to potential.
The girls’ team face a tough Pool B draw, beginning against China at 10.50 am, Nepal (1.45 pm) and Uzbekistan (5.25 pm).
Only the top two teams from each group qualify for the Cup semi-finals.
The girls’ team is led by All Saints College, Borella player Minoli Jude.
