Six players qualify at Open singles

Six players, three each from the women’s and men’s events of the Yeti SSC Open Tennis Championship were found after the completion of the quarter finals played at the SSC tennis courts in Colombo yesterday.

The three to qualify in the women’s Open were Yuhansa Peiris, Annaya Norbert and Sandithi Usgodaarachchi while Ganuka Fernando, Thehan Wijemanne and Harishva Parameshwaran were the three to qualify in the men’s event.

The other two quarter final encounters were in progress at the time of reporting and the semifinals are scheduled to be played from 9.00 am onwards today.

Singles Quarter Finals:
Women’s Open - Yuhansa Peiris beat Dulkini Ranasinghe 2-0 (6/0, 6/0). Annaya Norbert beat Biyanka Acouistapace 2-0 (6/4, 7/6). Sandithi Usgodaarachchi beat Vinethya Dharmaratne 2-1 (1/6, 6/3, 6/1).

Men’s Open - Ganuka Fernando beat Ashen Silva 2-0 (6/3, 6/4). Thehan Wijemanne beat Neven Kannangara 2-0 (6/1, 6/2). Harishva Parameshwaran beat Rehan Gunawardena 2-0 (6/2, 6/4).
