Schoolboys Vishenka and Marasinghe in Sri Lanka Sevens pool

Schoolboys Vishenka Silva and Janith Marasinghe have been drawn into a 25-member pool in preparation for the two legs of the Asian Rugby Sevens scheduled to be played in China and Sri Lanka.

Silva played for St. Peter’s College and Marasinghe wore the jersey of St. Joseph’s College at the recently concluded inter-school League.

Former Vidyartha College and current Kandy SC winger Kavindu Perera will lead the Sri Lanka Sevens outfit that will be pruned down to the final 12-member squad. 

China will host the event in September and Sri Lanka will host the second segment in October.

Former Isipathana College, CR and Sri Lanka player Shamli Nawas will be the head coach with Rajeev Perera assisting him.

Asela Deshapriya will coach the women’s team with Sujani Ratnayake assisting him.

Sri Lanka men’s players: Kavindu Perera (Captain), Akash Madushanka , Dilan Ekanayake, Janindu Wijerathne, Yehan Bulathsinhalage, Jayathu Rajaratne, Nalan Deshapriya, Ravindhu Hettiarachchi, Gayan Perera, Lahiru Thilakaratne, Mohamed Rifan, Kalana Chamuditha, Aaron Corea, Devinda Ratnayake, Nisran Nilar, Heshan Jansen, Vishenka Silva, Danush Dange, Chatura Soysa, Shaahid Zumri, Suranga Tennakoon, Janith Marasinghe, Sashika Fernando.
