Youngster Jacob Norton and experienced Chalitha Pushpika were tied on first place after carding 68 each on the opening day of the Sri Lanka Golf Ranking Tournament at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC).
Norton delivered a flawless round, finishing at the top with an impressive 68, setting the pace for the tournament. His precision and calm approach on the greens gave him a strong start.
Matching Norton’s brilliance, Pushpika also carded a 68, sharing the lead at the end of the first day. His consistent fairway shots and short-game excellence kept him in contention.
R.M.S. Rupasinghe played a controlled round, finishing at 73, just five strokes behind the leaders. A solid back-nine performance kept him in the hunt for a podium finish.
Reshan Algama put up a composed effort, carding a 74. His ability to recover from tough positions and sink crucial putts made him a strong competitor moving forward.
Both Chanaka Perera and Kumar Dhanushan wrapped up their first round at 75, staying within striking distance of the top three.
In the Ladies segment only three participants teed off with N.G.N.S.S. Sumanarathna leading with a score of 97.
After today’s round two, only the top 15 will move forward to day three and day four.
