SL Relay teams secure fifth place in China

The Sri Lanka Men’s and Women’s Relay teams secured fifth place at the IAAF 20th Indoor World Championship 2025, which is now in progress in Nanjing, China. 

The Sri Lanka Men’s 400X4m Relay Team finished fifth (last) place with a time of three minutes and 10.58 seconds. The gold medal in this event was won by the United States with a time of 3:03.13.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Women’s 400X4m Relay Team also finished in fifth (last) place with a time of 3:40.82. The gold medal in this event was won by the United States with a time of 3:27.45.

The Sri Lankan Men’s Relay team consisted of Kalinga Kumarage, Randima Madushan, Omel Silva and Sadew Rajakaruna.

The Sri Lanka Women’s Relay team comprised Nisendra Fernando, Jayesi Uttara, Nadeesha Ramanayake and Sayuri Mendis.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan 60m hurdler Nadun Bandara qualified for the semi-finals by clocking 7.87s in the preliminary round but was forced to withdraw from the final after collapsing early in the race.
