Over 500 pugilists for Schools Boxing Meet

The Schools Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (SBASL) will conduct the 49th L. V. Jayaweera meet for boys and the third D. D. C.  Munasinghe girls Novice Boxing Tournament from April 3 to 9 at the Sri Dheerananda MV Indoor Stadium in Pilimathalawa.

The tournament will be open for boxers under the age of 15 and the entries will close on March 30, SBASL Secretary K. K. Sunil told the Daily Mirror yesterday.

The Boys’ Tournament will be conducted for the L. V. Jayaweera Trophy and the Girls’ Tournament will be conducted for the D. D.C.  Munasinghe Trophy. SBASL officials said more than 500 boxers from nearly 100 schools are set to participate in this tournament.

Boxers above the age of 12 and below the age of 15 can participate in the tournament at school level.

All entries should reach K. K. Sunil, Secretary, SBASL, Sri Dheerananda MV, Pilimathalawa before March 20. All finals are scheduled to be held on April 9.
