Nuwanidu Fernando and skipper Charith Asalanka shone for SLC Greys in their 24 runs win over SLC Blues in a high scoring second match of the SLC T20 League tournament played at the SSC ground yesterday.

SLC Blues in their run chase of 193 runs was making steady progress and at the halfway stage of the innings with Kusal Perera and Dhananjaya de Silva at the wicket they were strongly placed on 100 for 2.

But the separation of the pair who together added 52 runs for the third wicket with the dismissal of Kusal saw them falling back.

They lost wickets at regular intervals and with no significant partnerships coming later in the innings they were restricted for a score of 168 for 8.

Earlier in the day SLC Greys invited to take first lease of the wicket lost two early wickets with 15 runs on the board in the second over but recovered thanks to top scorer Nuwanidu Fernando who made an unbeaten 70 in 52 balls that included eight boundaries and a six.

SLC Greys will meet SLC Greens in the third match of the tournament scheduled to be played tomorrow.
