Kart Fight Championship 2024 in action

David Pieris Racing & Leisure (Private) Limited together with the Ceylon Motor Sports Club (CMSC) organised the second round of the ACBT Kart Fight Championship 2024. This second round of the four-round kart championship left spectators thrilled and saw intense competition at SpeedBay Bandaragama, Sri Lanka’s only FIA/CIK homologised karting track.  Over 100 skilled drivers took to the track, participating in 12 classes categorised by age and weight. The youngest participant was a 9-year-old girl showcasing her talent in the cadet class, while the oldest driver, a 65-year-old, fearlessly navigated the track in the veteran and Iame X30 classes.
The event featured various kart types, ranging from 4-stroke racing karts to 2-stroke karts capable of speeds exceeding 100 Kmph on the main straight. The Iame X30 and Yamaha KT100 classes attracted significant attention, being the highest levels of karting and the aspiration of many drivers.

ACBT - Australian College of Business & Technology joined as the title partner for the 4-round championship, demonstrating their commitment to promoting sportsmanship and talent development among the youth.
Furthermore, the FIA Women in Motorsport initiative was also part of the event, aiming to raise awareness and visibility for female drivers across different classes, including the Ladies Open class.
The winners of the races were as follows:
Jayden Jayawardana (Cadet), Kaveen Rajapaksa (Junior), Sharanya Mendis (Ladies Open), Kevan Samarajiwa (Senior Intermediate), Ethan Karunaratne (Senior Advanced), Shakthi Gunasekara (Master), Saman Perera (Veteran), Tehan Amarasiree (Iame X30 Cadet, Race 1 & Race 2), Aadam Junaid (Yamaha KT100, 120kg Class, Race 1 & Race 2), Thinuka Wijerathne (Yamaha KT100, 140kg Class, Race 1), Mathew Karunaratne (Yamaha KT100, 140kg Class, Race 2), and Inuk Maddumarachchi (Yamaha KT100, 155kg Class, Race 1 & Race 2).
