NWP shuttle tourney from Feb. 17

The North Western Province Badminton Association (NWPBA) are now accepting entries for the NWPBA All-Island Open Badminton Championships 2025, scheduled to be held from February 17 to 23 at the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Sports Complex in Boyagane, Kurunegala.

Organised by the Northern Western Province Badminton Association, the seven-day event is a National Ranking Level 1 competition sanctioned by Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB), where most of the country’s top ranked shuttlers are expected to compete under different categories.

The championship will feature a wide range of events from Under-11 to Under-19 in the junior category and Over-30 to Over-70 in the senior category, including three combined age groups of 100+ for veterans.

However, the main attraction of the competition will be the Open events consisting of Men’s and Women’s Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles with the losers of Men’s and Women’s Singles from their first games guaranteed a passage to the Plate segment.

The main draw seeding will be determined based on SLB Ranking as of February 10, followed by the draw on February 12 at No. 2, Cambridge Terrace, Colombo 7.
