Mawanella United Sports Club team with the trophy

Mawanella United Sports Club clinched the League One Football Championship, organised by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL), defeating Beruwala’s Great Star Sports Club in both legs of the finals and claiming the coveted trophy along with a cash prize of one million rupees.
The tournament featured 16 FFSL-affiliated clubs, played in a home-and-away format. Mawanella United emerged as the strongest side, defeating Great Star 1–0 in the first leg of the final and following up with an emphatic 3–0 win in the second leg, played at the Racecourse Grounds in Colombo.
In the decisive second-leg match, United led 1–0 at halftime and added two more goals in the second half to seal a comprehensive 3–0 victory. Mohamed Shakeel opened the scoring for United, while Mohamed Safran netted twice to complete the triumph.
Mawanella United’s clinical performance across both legs of the final underscored their dominance throughout the competition, which brought together some of the best football talent from across the island.
