Makandura boy and Walagedara girl win half marathon

In an impressive display of endurance, A.G.A. Didulanka of Makandura Central College, Matara and Manel Walagedara of MV Walagedara secured first place in the boys’ and girls’ categories respectively at the Sir John Tarbat Ritzbury Junior Half Marathon yesterday at Embilipitiya.

In the boys’ race, Didulanka completed the course in a time of 1:14.01 while the girls’ winner Manel, finished in a time of 1: 28.01.

H.H.K. Hirun of Makandura Central College claimed second place in the boys’ category with 1:14.6, followed by J.M.N. Chaturanga of President College, Ambagasdowa, in third with 1:16.4.

In the girls’ race, P. Tharindi of High School Nuwara Eliya finished second (1:31.1), while N. Abinya of Rajawella Hindu National School, Digana claimed third (1:32.4) place.
