Major Club Tier ‘B’ Final Nipun steers SSC to title win

An unbeaten knock of 73 by Nipun Dhananjaya paved the way for SSC to record a comfortable four wicket win over Moratuwa SC in the final of the Major Club limited overs tournament played at the SSC ground yesterday.

The winners SSC made amends having undergone a defeat at the hands of Malay CC in the final of the Major Club T20 tournament.

Dhananjaya associated in two valuable partnerships of 51 runs for the third wicket with skipper Avishka Fernando and the other of 66 runs for the fourth wicket with Charith Asalanka which helped SSC chasing 232 runs victory to reach the target in the 41st over.

Earlier Moratuwa SC taking first lease of the wicket were left struggling on 105 for 8 and recovered thanks to Poorna Prabath who made a quick-fire 92 in 80 balls inclusive of eight boundaries and six sixes to make a respectable score of 231 but which proved to be insufficient.
