Major Club Cricket Final: Bloomfield and NCC set for thrilling title clash

Bloomfield team – Nipun Karunanayake (captain), Yohan de Silva, Ron Chandragupta, Asitha Wanninayake, Ravindu Fernando, Kasun Abeyratne, Lahiru Madusanka, Sahan Nanayakkara, Isitha Wijesundara, Jeffrey Vandersay, Tharinda Guruge, Mineth Premaratne, Hasitha Boyagoda, Kaveesha Piyumal, Mihiranga Silva, Chathura Randunu.

The curtains will come down on the Major Club three-day tournament with the title clash between Bloomfield and NCC to be played over four days starting from today at the R. Premadasa Stadium.  
Bloomfield led by Nipun Karunanayake came out on top in Group ‘A’ accumulating 104.76 points inclusive of four outright wins against Ragama CC, Chilaw Marians CC, Police SC and Badureliya SC while NCC topped Group ‘B’ with 114.985 points inclusive of three outright wins against Kandy Customs CC, BRC and Moors SC.  
The two sides are oozing with talent and Bloomfield possessing players in the calibre of Ron Chandragupta who is their top run-getter with over 480 runs that includes a century and three half tons. Skipper Karunanayake has scored over 450 runs inclusive of six half tons. Ravindu de Silva is the other centurion of the side and has made over 400 runs.  
Kasun Abeyratne too has made contributions and is the third centurion and he along with Lahiru Madusanka, Asitha Wanninayake will be expected to chip in while the bowling attack will revolve around spinner Ravindu Fernando who has taken over 45 wickets while support from Sahan Nanayakkara and Isitha Wijesundara will no doubt be crucial.  
NCC on the other hand possess a host of batters they can rely on in the likes of skipper Nanayakkara who has led from the front with success. The cynosure of all eyes will be Kamil Mishara who has been in top form and has scored over 700 runs inclusive of three centuries and three half tons. Another player they will have to take note of is Lahiru Udara who has scored over 600 runs inclusive of a double ton, a century and two half tons.  
Skipper Nanayakkara too has been in top form having scored nearly 600 runs including three tons and they possess three more centurions in Niroshan Dickwella (522), Kaveen Bandara (544) and Ahan who was unable to play in some of the matches due to injury. The bowling will be in the hands of Ashian Daniel, Chamika Karunaratne, Asel Sigera and Lasith Embuldeniya.  
However with the two teams packed with the cream of talent, predicting the final outcome is not going to be easy. But an interesting tussle for the title could be expected.
