Leon triumphs at RCGC President’s Prize

The Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) hosted the highly anticipated President’s Prize 2024 at their Golf Course in Borella attracting a field of 200 golfers. 
The competition showed remarkable talent across multiple divisions, culminating in an impressive victory for Leon Perera, who claimed the Overall Winner’s title with a score of 135 Nett.
Perera delivered a masterclass in consistency and precision, fending off a strong challenge from left-hander and one of the finest golfers, Tharanga Gunasekera, who finished as the Overall Runners-Up with a net score of 139.
Meanwhile, youngster Yannik Kumara too was in sparkling form emerging as the Overall Gross Winner, carding an outstanding 147 Gross to show his dominance in raw scoring ability.
The Masters Division saw Milinda Ratnayake secure victory with a 67 Nett while A. D. S. Gunasekera finished as the runners-up with 70 Nett.
The Seniors Division saw Mohan De Silva claimed the title with a 66 Nett, edging out Sunimal Salgadu (69 Nett B/B 9).
The Ladies’ Division was dominated by inform, Jade Jiggens, who emerged victorious with a 67 Nett, with Dhinuka Boralessa finishing close behind at 68 Nett.
The Senior Ladies’ Division saw Kalyani Ranasinghe atop the leaderboard with 68 Nett, while M. C. Sellayah settled for the runners-up at 77 Nett.
(First Day Best Nett Winner): Thusara Rupasinghe (63 Nett), (Second Day Best Nett Winner): Leon Perera (65 Nett).
