Lankesh to lead D.S. rugby

D.S. Senanayake College, one of the schools that has taken rugby seriously in the recent past, will have Lankesh Wickramasinghe as their 1st XV rugby skipper for the 2025 rugby season.
The school, which is also famous for cricket, had already appointed Methila Pieris and Rasindu Bandara as vice captains. They will be led by Sandeep Kaldera in the shorter format of the game, who will also be one of the three vice captains of the senior outfit.


One of the best head coaches in the current rugby circle, Asela Deshapriya, will continue the good work he had done at D.S. as their head of the coaching unit.
Asela coached Kannangara for six years starting in 2009. Before joining D.S., he handled Royal College Under-16 and Under-18 outfits. Asela has been handling D.S. since 2019 with a lot of success.
Asela is also the head coach of the Air Force outfit in his second year, taking them to the Cup segment after 13 long years.
Other coaching staff are Assistant Coach Ashen Dasanayake, Strength and Conditioning Coach Sunimal Manamperi, Backs Assistant Coach Dinesh De Silva, Forwards Assistant Coach Suhiru Anthony, Team Manager Sunil Jayantha, Team Doctors Dr. Manola Nanayakkara and Dr. Chanaka Vitharanage, and Team Physio Sanka De Silva.
