Lahiru steers Galle to thrilling victory

Galle pulled off a thrilling one wicket win over Dambulla in their SLC National Super League 50-Over Cricket Tournament match played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy yesterday.


Number eight batsman Lahiru Samarakoon struck an unbeaten half century as Galle overtook Dambulla’s total of 241 runs with one wicket and 17 balls to spare.


In contrast, Kandy cruised to a convincing six wicket win over Colombo in their match played at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium.

Galle: 242/9 in 47.1 overs (Shehan Fernando 67, Dhananjaya Lakshan 34, Dunith Wellalage 52, Lahiru Samarakoon 53 n.o, Vishwa Fernando 2/40, Lakshan Sandakan 3/60).
