Kumar Sangakkara’s father passes away

SK Sangakkara, the father of former Sri Lanka cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara, passed away yesterday and his funeral will take place today at 6 pm at the Mahaiyawa cemetery in Kandy, a family spokesman said.

His remains now lie at his residence in Kandy and the cortege will leave at 4.30 pm.

Besides his famous cricketing son Kumar, the late Sangakkara senior was also the father of three other siblings, Thusharie, Vemindra and Saranga and husband of Kumarie.
