The winning Kandy Masters football team 

Kandy Masters overcame Kirulapone FC by 3 goals to nil in the final of the 11- A- Side Football tournament 2023/2024, organised and conducted by the Sri Lanka Soccer Masters Association (SLSMA) at the Moragasmulla playground recently. 

There are around 72 registered Veterans Football Clubs in the island of which 49 clubs participated at this tournament. The competition was structured into five zones, each comprising between 5 to 9 teams. Colombo Zone being the most competitive, were divided into four groups. 

The second round featured 12 teams, eight from the Colombo Zonal and four from the outstation zones. Two teams from Colombo and two teams from outstation regions were selected to the semi-finals. 

In the semi-finals, Kandy Masters defeated Westmasters Negombo by via a penalty shoot out whilst Kirulapone FC defeated Saunders Veterans FC also via a penalty shoot out. In the final Kandy Masters defeated Kirulapone FC by 3 goals to nil. The goal scorers for Kandy Masters were N. Mohan Raj, C.S. Rodrigo and K. Priyantha. 

The award ceremony was presided over by the Chief Guest 

Sunil Perera and Chairman of the SLSMA Tilak Peiris, celebrating the spirit and sucess of Veterans Football in Sri-Lanka. The guest invitees present at this tournament were Past President Anura Gunaratne, Susantha Mavella and SSP Nimal.
