Sri Lanka Women’s Under-19 players celebrate their win
By M. Shamil Amit
Sri Lanka ended their campaign at the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup 2025 on a winning note as they beat Australia by 12 runs in their final Super Six stage game played at Bangi, Malaysia yesterday.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bat first but only managed to put on 99 runs on the board as Australians put on a disciplined bowling display.
However, Australia also struggled with the bat in their run-chase as Sri Lanka delivered a clinical bowling performance to restrict the opposition and snatch a hard-fought win at the end.
Chamodi Praboda, Pramudi Methsara and Aseni Thalagune impressed with the ball for Sri Lanka snaring two wickets each.
Chief scores:
Sri Lanka Women’s Under-19: 99/8 in 20 overs (Lily Bassingthwaighte 3/7, Hasrat Gill 2/18, Tegan Williamson 2/19)
Australia Women’s Under-19: 87/8 in 20 overs (Caoimhe Bray 27, Chamodi Praboda 2/13, Pramudi Methsara 2/16, Aseni
Thalagune 2/18).
