Minod Bhanuka named Man of the Finals

In a commanding display of power-hitting and disciplined bowling, Hayleys Group clinched the 2025 Mercantile T10 Championship, defeating CDB by 24 runs in a high-intensity final held at the CCC grounds. Batting first, Hayleys racked up an imposing 149 for 2 in their 10 overs, led by a sensational unbeaten 61 off 26 balls from Minod Bhanuka, who anchored the innings. He was ably supported by Lahiru Samarakoon, who bludgeoned 45 off just 12 deliveries, showcasing the depth and firepower of the Hayleys batting order.

Earlier contributions from Lahiru Dawatage (22 off 7) and Yuthika Silva (14 off 16) gave Hayleys the perfect platform, ending their innings with the highest team score of the tournament.

In response, CDB fought valiantly but could only manage 125 for 7, unable to break free from the pressure applied by the Hayleys bowling unit. Lahiru Samarakoon was once again in the spotlight, this time with the ball, claiming 2 for 23 and capping off a brilliant all-round performance. Inuka

Karannagoda (1/4), Kalana Perera (1/16), and Kavishka Anjula (1/29) delivered tight spells to choke the opposition’s momentum.

The final victory over CDB capped off an impressive run for Hayleys in the tournament, with earlier wins over DPMC A, DFCC, and Sampath Bank, each match reflecting the team’s depth, strategy and composure under pressure.
