Five-member team for IAAF Relay Meet

Sri Lanka Team, which won the Gold Medal at the 2023 Asian Athletic Championships

Sri Lanka Athletic (SLA) will field a five-member contingent for the IAAF Sixth World Athletic Relay Championships 2024, to be held from May 4 to 5 at the Thomas Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas.  
The IAAF Sixth World Athletic Relay Championships will also serve as the final qualification meet ahead of the Paris Olympic Games from July 26 to August 11 in France.  
Top athletes from 38 countries will be vying for a place in the Paris Olympic Games at the World Athletic Relay Championships.   
 Sri Lanka will compete in the Men’s 4X400m relay event following their success at the 2023 Asian Athletic Championships, where they secured the Gold Medal.  
The Sri Lanka Men’s 4X400m Relay Team will include Kalinga Kumarage, Aruna Dharshana, Pasindu Kodikara, Dinuka Deshan and Rajitha Rajakaruna.  
Sri Lanka won the 4X400m relay event at the Asian Athletic Championships in 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand with a time of 3:01.56s and that performance was placed 15th under the IAAF World Rankings.  
The 16 best 4X400m relay teams will be selected for the Paris Olympic Games and 14 teams with the best timing will be selected by the IAAF from the World Relay Championships.  
The World Athletic Relay Championships will include five events for Men and Women - Mixed 4X400m, Women’s 4X100m, Men’s 4X100m, Men’s 4X400m and Women’s 4X400m.
