Eight players book berth in quarter finals

The second round matches of the Yeti SSC Men’s Open which concluded at the SSC tennis courts in Colombo had eight of the top players coming out victorious to book berths in the quarter finals.

Methvan Wijemanne one of the favourites along with Ruwan Fernando, Aahil Kaleel, Lithium Jayabandu, Hesara Kuruppu, Ransath Peiris,, Ganuka Fernando, Thehan Wijemanne and Mayooran Kubherane were the eight players who came out on top to enter the quarter finals scheduled to be played today from 9.00 am.

Singles: Men’s Open:

Methvan Wijemanne beat Shanoon Anderson 2-0 (6/0, 6/2). Ruwan Fernando beat M. Wickramasinghe 2-1 (7/5, 4/6,7/5). Aahil Kaleel beat Beeshman Balarathnaraja 2-0 (6/1, 6/3). Lithium Jayabandu beat Ashlin de Silva 2-1 (1/6, 6/2, 6/2). Hesara Kuruppu beat Nithila Goonetilleke 2-0 (6/3, 6/3). Ransath Peiris beat Alexan Yogendren 2-0 (6/1, 6/4). Ganuka Fernando beat Andrew Wijemanne 2-0 (7/6, 6/2). Thehan Wijemanne beat Dumindu Dilum 2-0 (6/1, 6/0). Mayooran Kubherane beat Kavish Maddumage 2-0 (6/2, 6/3).
