Druvi de Silva touches down

Former St. Joseph’s College rugby captain and centre Druvi de Silva was laid to rest yesterday at the General cemetery in Borella after he died of a brief illness at the age of 56.

Druvi hailed from an illustrious sporting family and was the son of Brian de Silva who played rugby and cricket for St. Peter’s College and brother of Ravi de Silva who played cricket as well as the nephew of Sri Lanka rugby legend Len de Silva.

Brian de Silva played alongside his brother Maurice de Silva under the captaincy of Clive Inman in the 1950s.
Druvi captained the Joes in rugby in 1988 at a time the school had its ups and down in the sport
