DS Senanayake celebrates 50 years of rugby

DS Senanayake College will head into the 2026 schools rugby season with confidence and ambition as they celebrate 50 years of rugby with the leadership of dynamic centre Tatheera Perera. 

A hard-running and composed centre, Tatheera has been part of the First XV setup since 2022, having taken up the sport at the age of 11. His leadership credentials are further strengthened by his inclusion in the Sri Lanka Under-18 Sevens squad in 2024.

He will be supported by two dependable deputies, Praveen Lakmal and Chamith Samarasinghe, forming a strong on-field leadership core for the season ahead.

The outfit is guided by an experienced coaching panel led by Asela Deshapriya assisted by Ashane Dassanayake with specialist attention to the backline provided by Dinesh de Silva.

DS Senanayake enjoyed a productive 2025 campaign, winning seven of their nine league fixtures in the League and becoming Plate Champions.
