Battle of the Hindus Big Match on Feb 7-8

The 14th annual Battle of the Hindus Inter-School Big Match between traditional rivals Hindu College, Jaffna, and Hindu College, Colombo, will be played on February 7-8 at the Hindu College, Jaffna Grounds.

Commenced in 1982, the 2025 edition of the fixture will be sponsored by Janashakthi Group (title) and SLIIT Northern University (platinum).

Out of the 13 encounters, both schools have recorded three victories each while seven matches have ended in a draw. 

“Going back to history, both schools hold unique values and qualities in many aspects. Our schools have produced many eminent personalities who have contributed to our nation in academics, sports, arts, and statesmanship, including public and private sectors,” Principal of Hindu College, Jaffna, Ratnam Senthilmaran, said during a media briefing held in Colombo.
Meanwhile, Principal of Hindu College, Colombo, K. Nagenthra, said, “This historic event is not just a game; it is a celebration of the long-standing brotherhood, sportsmanship, and shared heritage that unite our two esteemed institutions. For generations, Hindu College, Colombo, and Hindu College, Jaffna, have fostered a deep bond through education, culture, and sports, strengthening the spirit of unity among Hinduites, regardless of geography.”
