61st Battle of the Brothers Thurstan, Isipathana - A tame draw

The 61st Battle of the Brothers between traditional rivals Thurstan and Isipathana ended in a tame draw at the SSC ground yesterday. The highlights of the match were an all-round performance by Thurstan skipper Vihas Thewmika, who made a top score of 77 and bagged six scalps, and a knock of 102 by Tharushka Ashel for Isipathana.


The second day’s play saw Thurstan, resuming from their overnight score of 53/1, go on to make 253/8 declared in reply to Isipathana’s score of 250/9 declared. Isipathana batting the second time ended the day on 113/1.
