The Sri Lanka Technology Campus (SLTC) proudly concluded its Annual Convocation 2025 on 16th December at the BMICH Main Conference Hall. The ceremony marked an important milestone in its journey as Sri Lanka’s leading non-state technology and innovation-focused campus. Held across two sessions, the event celebrated the achievements of a diverse and accomplished cohort representing Engineering, Business Management, Computing and IT, Science, Technology, Music and the Postgraduate Studies.

This year's convocation carried special significance as it coincided with the completion of SLTC's first decade. Over the past ten years, the campus has grown into a dynamic institution committed to research-driven education and preparing graduates who are ready to lead in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Morning Session: Celebrating Engineering and Business Excellence

The Morning Session was dedicated to the graduates of the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Business Management. The ceremony began with the traditional academic processions followed by the Lighting of the Lamp of Learning, which reflected the campus's commitment to wisdom, knowledge, and the lifelong pursuit of learning.

After the University Anthem, Vice Chancellor Professor Chandrika N. Wijeyaratne delivered the welcome address. She congratulated the graduates on their dedication and perseverance and acknowledged the tremendous effort required to complete demanding academic programmes in engineering and business.

A key highlight of the morning was the Convocation Address delivered by the Chief Guest, Mr. Manjula De Silva, Independent Economist and former CEO of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. In his address, Mr. De Silva highlighted the importance of innovation, critical thinking, and responsible leadership as essential qualities for professionals entering the workforce. He encouraged the graduates to uphold strong values, embrace continuous learning, and be active contributors to Sri Lanka's economic progress.

The Graduands' Address and Graduation Pledge followed, during which the graduating class affirmed their commitment to ethical conduct, professionalism, and a service-oriented mindset. The ceremony concluded with the conferment of degrees, welcoming a new group of engineering and business graduates into the global professional community.

Evening Session: Honouring Computing, Science, Technology, Postgraduate Studies, and Music

The Evening Session celebrated graduates from the Faculties of Computing and IT, Science, Technology, Postgraduate Studies and Research, and the Department of Music. Families, faculty, and well-wishers gathered to honour students whose academic journeys spanned a wide spectrum of disciplines ranging from cutting-edge computing and applied sciences to postgraduate research and music performance.

The Vice Chancellor delivered the welcome address for the second session, emphasising the breadth and strength of SLTC's academic framework. She noted the importance of interdisciplinary education and the need for graduates to remain adaptable, imaginative, and globally competitive.

The keynote address of the evening was delivered by Dr. Shanthi Wilson (PhD, Cantab), former Additional Director of Research at the Industrial Technology Institute. In her inspiring speech, Dr. Wilson spoke about the critical role of research, innovation, and evidence-based thinking in shaping the future of Sri Lanka. She encouraged the graduates to be bold, curious, and persistent in their pursuit of knowledge and to use their expertise to solve real-world challenges.

The Graduands' Address and Graduation Pledge followed, uniting the graduates in a shared promise to uphold the highest standards of professionalism. The conferment of degrees then took place, marking the successful conclusion of years of study, commitment, and achievement. The ceremony drew to a close with the official declaration marking the end of the convocation.

As the graduates of 2025 begin their professional journeys, they carry with them this mindset along with strong academic foundations, analytical skills, creativity, and the confidence to contribute meaningfully to society.

As SLTC looks ahead to its next decade, the campus remains committed to expanding its global collaborations, strengthening research capacity, enhancing campus infrastructure, and advancing its signature True University Experience rooted in residential learning and industry integration.

The Class of 2025 now becomes part of a growing alumni network that reflects the spirit of SLTC: innovative, resilient, ethical, and proudly Made in SLTC.
