Two of the several Diyawanna politicos sworn in as top team members at the second round had said that they did not want these portfolios as they were burdened with too many subjects, knowledgeable sources say.

They say that it is surprising that the duo had expressed displeasure about ‘too many’ subjects being assigned to them when it is the overall experience that politicos would ask for more powers and more areas where they can exercise their authority.

The Economics don, one of the complaining duo has been assigned three subjects. On seeing the list of subjects attached the portfolio he had said: “ I cannot handle so many subjects. Give me a portfolio with a subject related to Economics.”  However, the Big Boss had declined to assign him any other portfolio, they say.

The other reluctant politico, a doctor hailing from the South had objected to his being given the charge of Industries in addition to Plantations. However, he is to handle all the subjects assigned to him with no change as the high-ups had declined to grant his request for another portfolio, they say.
