The government provided flat apartments to about 70 Pohottuwa Diyawanna politicos whose residences and other properties were destroyed in the rampage in the recent past. However, these were unfurnished empty apartments.

The Pohottuwa high-ups who took pity on the politicos who suffered much damage to their properties decided to offer monetary assistance to them to buy the necessary items of furniture. Having planned to provide these politicos with about Rs. 5 lakhs each, they entrusted the task of supplying the necessary items of furniture to another Pohottuwa politico with a doctorate who possessed the experience of having accomplished this type of jobs in the past.

However, despite this do-gooder being provided with the necessary funds, he had supplied furniture to only 10 to 15 apartments so far, allege the other affected politicos.

It had come to light later that the so- called do-gooder had taken the trouble to supply necessary furniture items only to the apartments of the politicos who are close friends of his. Later when the party high-ups had questioned him about this discriminative treatment, the doctor-politico had replied that the furniture items had gone out of stock.

Some politicos who are yet to get the furniture through the doctor-politico have now entertained the suspicion that they will never receive the stuff, they say.
