Woman allegedly stabs husband to death over breakfast dispute

The Valaichchenai Police say a woman has allegedly stabbed her husband to death after he asked her to prepare ‘pittu’ for breakfast at their home in Vahaneri, Batticaloa, yesterday morning. 

The victim had left home earlier in the morning for agricultural work and returned around breakfast time. He reportedly asked his wife to prepare ‘pittu’, a traditional dish, which led to a verbal argument between the couple. 

During the altercation, the wife allegedly attacked her husband with a knife, resulting in his death. 

Following the incident, the woman went to the Valaichchenai Police Station carrying the knife and confessed to the killing. Police noted that she appeared distressed and agitated after making the confession. 

The Valaichchenai Police have launched a full investigation into the incident.
