Wildlife Conservators are providing treatment to a wild elephant  found lying in a critical condition on the bank of the Kagama Tank at Ihala Ipalogama with gunshot injuries.
Wild life Conservation Department’s Veterinary Surgeon Dr. Chandana Jayasinghe said the jumbo was blind and it had received serious gunshot injuries either by misfire of a trap gun or had been shot by an individual.  Dr. Chandana Jayasinghe said the jumbo was about 25 years of age and eight feet tall. He said it was not in a position to move about but it was tranquilized before providing treatment.
