Weligama businessman arrested with four ‘Valampuri” conch shells

A leading businessman in Weligama who had in his possession four Valampuri conch shells and an illegal weapon was arrested by the STF. 


The 49-year-old suspect was a resident of Jayavigama in Weligama. Police said the pistol they seized was of a foreign make. 

 
The STF had carried out the raid on intelligence received from the Koggala Airforce camp and arrested the suspect. He was handed over to the Weligama Police for further action.   


OIC Kokmaduwa STF camp IP- P.W.P.Ajith, SI.P.M.Kariyapperuma, PCs, 26112 Indika, 21503 Suriya, and WPC 53131 Indika had carried out the raid on the instructions of ASP S.E.C.Asoka, and SSP Viduranatha Dissanayake.   
HQI Weligama Police D.M.Abesekara and OIC Crime Branch CI Amarasenha are conducting further investigations.
