Veteran journalist and media activist Seetha Ranjani passed away yesterday in Anuradhapura at the age of 70.
She rendered a yeomen service to female journalists in the country and focused on the oppressed including women and children.
Seetha, who was a founding member of the Free Media Movement (FMM) had served as its Convener and Secretary for a long time.
She won many awards in the field of journalism and media activism. Seetha received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Editors’ Guild of Sri Lanka in 2023 and the D. F. Kariyakarawana Memorial Award of the Sri Lanka Press Association in 2018.
The final rites will be held on Tuesday, February 18 at 4.00pm at Katukeliyawa Cemetery. The remains lie at residence 430/4, Madagammana Mawatha, Katukeliyawa, Anuradhapura.
