The Department of Coast Conservation has taken steps to remove all unauthorized structures along the coastal belt from Bentota bridge to Goviyapana bridge in Ahangama. Deputy Director of the Coast Conservation Department T.L.C.Vinod said 768 unauthorized erections on the coastal belt in the Galle district from Bentota Bridge to Goviyapana Bridge had been identified. He said steps would be taken to demolish them on a court order and that any erection within ten metres from the coast would not be permitted. The programme commenced from Mahamodara in Galle under the protection of the police.
