The Dharmavijaya Foundation, which organizes activities in accordance with the theme of “Developing the nation by developing the individual”, which is the pure aspiration of the Most Venerable Madihe Pannaseeha Mahanama Thero, organized a training course for student monks to preach the Buddhist Dharma in Tamil with advanced Tamil language skills, which began on March 5, 2025 at the Peliyagoda Vidyalankara Pirivena with the resourceful contribution of Tamil language expert Professor Vajira Prabhat Wijesinghe.
The inaugural ceremony, which began at 9 am, was attended by the Patron of the Dharmavijaya Foundation, Tripitakacharya Sastrapati Rajakaya Pandita Hakmana Sumanasiri Nayaka Thero, the Chief Incumbent of Vidyalankara Maha Pirivena, Sastrapati Rajakaya Pandita Most Venerable Velamitiyawe Sri Gnanarathana Thero, the Chief Incumbent of Jaffna Naga Viharaya Sastrapati Rajakaya Pandita Meegahajadure Siriwimala Nayaka Thero, the Executive Director of Divulapitiya Balagala Saraswati Pirivena, a lecturer in the Department of Buddhist Studies at the University of Colombo, the Chairman of the Gampaha Dharmavijaya society, Dr. Akuressa Dhammarathana Thero, and the Deputy Director of the National Institute of Education, Sastrapati Rajakaya Pandita Radaliyadde Seelananda Thero, along with 31 students monks participated.
The guests of honour included the Assistant Director (Training) of the National Library Services Board, Mr. W. M. Aravinda, the Assistant Secretary of Pirivena Education of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Dhammika Lalith, the Assistant Secretary of the Western Provincial Council, Ms. Menaka Pandikorala, and the members of the Dharmavijaya Foundation, including Secretary Hewa Bandula Premaratne, Mr. Sunil Chandrakumara, Ms. Chandrika Chitrangani, Ms. Nandani Wimalana, Manager Wasantha Kumarasinghe and Prabodh Hapuarachchi.Venerable Radaliyadde Seelananda Thero explained the importance of this programme to the student monks.
