Sri Lankan among 11 honoured with Russian title

Russian Minister of Education and Science Mr. Valery Falkov recently conferred the title “Ambassador of Russian Education and Science” to 11 citizens from various countries, including Sri Lanka.  

This year, the honorary title was awarded to 11 citizens from various countries, including Sri Lanka, represented by Buddhapriya Ramanayaka, CEO of the Russian Cultural Centre in Colombo.  

The ambassadors’ mission is to raise awareness abroad of Russian educational opportunities and achievements in scientific and technological fields. Ambassadors are government and public figures, graduates of Russian and Soviet universities, who have achieved outstanding success in their professional careers.  

The Minister noted that, thanks to the ambassadors’ work, inter-university contacts are developing, the number of joint educational and research projects is growing, and the number of people wishing to study and pursue scientific careers in Russia is increasing.
