Shooting inside Colombo Magistrate’s Court raises security concerns

A shocking security breach at the Colombo Magistrate’s Court has raised serious concerns after an armed individual, disguised as a lawyer, carried out a shooting inside Court No. 5. The incident, which occurred within a highly secured judicial environment, has prompted immediate scrutiny of the existing security measures.  

Soon after the shooting, security personnel conducted thorough checks on all lawyers present within the premises, reflecting the urgent need to reassess security procedures.  

Lawyers who were inside the court at the time of the shooting have strongly emphasised the necessity of implementing advanced security screening systems. They have called for the introduction of modern detection technologies, such as body scanners and other surveillance tools, to prevent similar breaches in the future.
