Seven treasure hunters arrested

• Police seize tools and equipment used by them

A group of seven treasure hunters who dug up a treasure in  Kotagala forest reserve in Dambagalla was arrested by Dambagalla Police  in the early hours of last morning.   

During the raid the police has seized the tools and  equipment used by them and offerings to the spirits who, they believed,  were guarding the treasure. The suspects between 21 and 61 years of age  were from Migalewa, Galnewa, Kekanadura, Maradankadawala, Kotagala and  Grandpass in Colombo.   

The suspects were to be produced before Siyambalanduwa Magistrate yesterday.   

A police team under OIC G.S.I Ginige and Sergeant 32217 Balawardene had carried out the raid.
