SI and PC arrested on bribery charges

A Sub-Inspector and a Constable of the Galnewa Police were arrested by investigation officials from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on suspicion of accepting a bribe of Rs. 30,000.

The two suspects were attached to the Crime Investigation Branch of the Galnewa Police. They had allegedly accepted the bribe from a scrap iron dealer in Galnewa town to settle a dispute between him and a local resident over a financial transaction.

The two officers were scheduled to be produced before the Kekirawa Magistrate yesterday.
