In a recent study the University of Peradeniya has identified a locally produced herbal immune booster ideal for many new respiratory viruses.
Peradeniya University’s Senior Prof. of Parasitology Jayantha Rajapakse of the Department of Pathobiology said the herbal immune booster drink ‘Praana’, has been found to be an enhancer of the primary immunity of the human body.
Addressing the media, Prof. Rajapakse said a recently conducted toxicology evaluation on the commercially prepared herbal drink has proven its effectiveness on viruses found in the respiratory tract.

“Praana” which has been approved by the Department of Ayurveda is a concoction of a series of herbal ingredients including cardamom, cinnamon, pepper, thalisa pathra, long pepper, ginger, pathpadagam, una kapuru and sukiri.
The herbal immune booster ‘Praana’ is a product of Ceylon Green Ayurveda Manufacturing (pvt) Ltd.
Prof. Rajapakse said that they would be conducting further tests on the herbal concoction to check for its suitability in enhancing immunity against the Corona virus in the future.
