Pathfinder Foundation conducts dialogue with Chinese Academics

The Pathfinder Foundation (PF) recently hosted an academic delegation  from Beijing, China, at its Riverpoint headquarters in Peliyagoda. The  session brought together former ambassadors, experts, and scholars from  Peking University, Capital Normal University, and the PF to foster  constructive international dialogue.

Discussions focused on the  socio-economic impact of Port City projects, Sri Lanka’s economic  recovery, cultural exchanges, youth engagement via social media, and  initiatives such as Clean Sri Lanka, digitisation, and renewable energy.  Regional strategic issues, particularly maritime commerce freedom in  the Indian Ocean Region, were also addressed, alongside Sri Lanka’s  balanced diplomacy with China and India.

Both sides emphasised  continued collaboration between Chinese research institutions and the  PF, proposing joint studies and knowledge-sharing initiatives to address  regional misunderstandings and promote mutual benefits.The session was chaired by Dr. Dayaratna Silva, Executive Director of the PF, and featured presentations from Admiral (Prof.) Jayanath Colombage and Dr. R.H.S. Samaratunga; Distinguished Fellows of the PF, Amb. Ahmed A. Jawad, Director of the PF, and Ms. Zhao Yuke and Ms. Zhang Hanshu; Ph.D. Candidates of the School of Journalism and Communication, Peking University. The Chinese scholars were led by Prof. WANG Weijia, Dean of the Institute of International Communication, Peking University, and Associate Research Fellow ZHAI Xiufeng, Institute of Global and Area Studies, Capital Normal University.
