Milinda Moragoda, Founder of the Pathfinder Foundation, was invited to present copies of the reprint edition of the Namamala, a Pali-Sinhala grammar book, to the senior Prelates of the Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters at their respective Karaka Maha Sangha Sabha meetings. Copies of the book will also be distributed to other Sangha Sabha’s including the Amarapura and Ramanna Nikayas, as well as to selected Temples, Pirivenas, Libraries, and other centers of higher learning across the country.

Namamala, written in 1870 by Ven. Waskaduwe Sri Rajaguru Subhuthi Mahanayake Thero, is an invaluable resource for those studying advanced Pali in Sinhala. The Pathfinder Foundation made the decision to reprint this classic work which has long been out of print and distribute it free of charge as part of their initiative to advance, encourage, and foster the study of Pali in Sri Lanka.

The reprinting of Namamala has been supported by the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka and coincides with the recent recognition of Pali as a classical language by the Government of India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
