Medicinal drugs and injections among contraband seized at Kalpitiya sea

Medicinal drugs and injections were among a consignment of contraband goods that were seized when they were smuggled from India by sea by Kalpitiya Police in the early house of yesterday morning.   
The contraband included injections illegally used for abortion, illegal drugs, banned insecticides and cardamom and a suspect arrested along with them.   
Police had carried out the raid at Anawasala area on intelligence received from the STF, and seized the stock of contraband goods.   
It had included 420 kilos of cardamom, more that 1000 bottles of banned insecticides, injections used illegally for abortion, and illegal drugs.   
The suspect under interrogation said the stock of goods was valued at around Rs.20 million.  
A police team under Acting OIC of the Kalpitiya Police IP Pathirana carried out the raid.
