Massive stock of seized narcotics and contraband destroyed

A massive stock of illegal intoxicants, including heroin, ganja, and foreign cigarettes seized by the police and the Anti-Narcotic Bureau and produced in court were destroyed in the incinerator in Wanathawilluwa yesterday after conclusion of case proceedings.   

It included 22.888 kilos of heroin, and 7,600 foreign cigarettes smuggled to the country and produced in Balapitiya Magistrate’s Court, 33.172 kilos of kerala ganja and 247.940 kilos of local ganja produced in the Chilaw Magistrate’s Court.   

The stock of contraband was destroyed in the presence of Balapitiya Magistrate Sanjeewani Pathirana and Chilaw District Judge and Magistrate Harsha De Silva.   

Senior DIG of the Police Anti-Narcotics Bureau Asoka Dharmasena, Director Chandana Herath and the officials of the Govt. Analyst’s Department were present at the occasion.
