Killed by wild elephant

A retired soldier of Kuruketiyawa in Navagattegama had been trampled to death on Wednesday night by a wild elephant frequenting the lonely road through the jungle.   
The victim Weerasinghalage Janaka Karunananda (46) was a father of two children and he had retired from the Army after a service of 22 years.   
He was on his way to Mahauswewa to bring home his daughter from a tuition class when a rogue elephant attacked him.
Residents of the area said the human-elephant conflict in the area is escalating.
