The International Monetary Fund team will visit the Ministry of Finance today to review progress of its recommendations on the three main revenue generating arms of the government to further optimize digitization process and anti-corruption programme, the Daily Mirror learns.

The IMF team led by Peter Breuer is scheduled to meet Treasury Secretary Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma and to conduct a progress review of the top revenue generating bodies namely the Department of Inland Revenue, Sri Lanka Customs and the Excise Department of Sri Lanka.

The officials are expected to conduct the progress review based on the preliminary recommendations put forward by the IMF at the beginning of the country’s debt restructuring programme as well as the conditions set up afterwards.

A senior official under the ministry said that all three revenue generating institutions have positive progress to discuss at today’s meeting and the team will separately visit the three institutions at a later date.

The internal institutions set up in each department to carry out the anti-corruption programme are expected to be discussed at the progress review as well as the new digitization process, the sources said.
